Quarantine Season

Sitting in my bedroom

And it’s half past noon

So lazy like I got nothing to do

The air smells like doom

And people say that the world’s end looms

At this point can I just go live on the moon?

Kinda miss hugging my friends

and going out to get milkshakes

But yesterday they said “No more handshakes!”

Wanna greet someone, just say “Namaste”

And so, as more people were feelin’ under the weather,

Today they say “At home you must stay!”

Sometimes I don’t really know

What time or day it is anymore

Quarantine season got me feelin’ so damn bored

and day by day

the number of people going west gets me so floored…

No I won’t look at another damn tweet

For a couple of hundred other weeks

Don’t wanna get caught up

in a tragic news headline affair

Entangled in scary conspiracy theories

That lets in the anxiety

And sets my mind running

Then I feel like the sky’s falling.

Then I wonder

“Oh God, what if that was me?”

Cause shit is starting to get real

Going out to get groceries

Roads deserted and so lone

I don’t remember it feeling like such a warzone

When masks are the helmets

Coughs and sneezes are the bullets

And we stay vigilant

Lest we get shot and succumb

Wish this goes back to normal,

If it ever does

It’s going to be a cruel summer

But at least we think we’re still alive

And for that, then we’ll probably survive.
